Dr. George Kordas, senior researcher at NCSR Demokritos, describes the very important project his research team is working on, during the last six years: delivering drugs for personalised chemotherapy to cancer patients. He talks about what inspired him to make this project the scope of his life, as well as the prospects of his life-saving method for the future. Research Director at NCSR Demokritos

Dr. George Kordas is a Research Director at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, Athens, Greece. He obtained in 1979 his Ph.D. in Engineering (Doktor Ingenieur), WWIII, Germany and he holds a M.S. in Physics (Diplom Physiker) from the University of Erlangen, Germany. He is interested in the synthesis and characterization of nanocontainers for medical and corrosion applications and currently doing research on novel Nanocontainer drug carrier for targeted treatment of prostate cancer (Nanotherapy). Previous to that he had been designing nanocontainers for industrial applications – such as self-healing of cars and building materials. He has written books on glass science and technology and published a lot of articles to scientific journals.

  Researchers’ Night is held for one night in several hundred cities all over Europe and beyond. The purpose of is to convey to the general public the key ideas that Research is a necessary ingredient for progress, the Researchers are an integral part of the community and their profession is both fun, challenging, interesting and worth pursuing. On September 26th 2014 Researcher's Night was held at the research centre NCSR Demokritos premises, in Athens. Tech Talks Central interviewed 18 Scientists & Researchers from 5 research centres that presented their work during Researcher's Night.
