Are the Androids Dreaming Yet? – Speech @ Heroes of the Mobile Fringe
James Tagg, author of the book ‘Are the Androids Dreaming Yet?’ presented in front of an audience his own beliefs on the Singularity issue. He started out by answering his own question ‘Can a Machine think Creatively?’ and argued mathematically on how much artificial intelligence has progressed, which are the crucial parity point dates and why he doesn’t believe that machines can surpass the creativity of humans.
The speech was conducted during a Heroes of the Mobile Fringe event organised by its founder Helen Keegan, on the 2nd of March at the Talent Garden(TAG).

CTO of Truphone, Inventor and Entrepreneur, Author
James is a British technology success story. In 1989 he founded Moonstone Technology, where he developed the first ever LCD touchscreen display.
His book 'Are The Androids Dreaming Yet?' concerns the limitations of computers in a Free Will universe and whether they will completely surpass us in intelligence or be limited by what they lack in creativity.
James is coFounder and CTO of Truphone, a company that started in 2001 on a farm in Kent where James struggled to get good mobile coverage, and so decided to tackle the problem himself. James invented a mobile phone SIM card that allows users to operate different phone numbers from a single device. Since then London based Truphone has grown from a Skype-style internet calling service into a global mobile network without country borders. It operates across 220+ countries and employs over 750 people worldwide. Truphone provides a cost-effective international mobile service for businesses and consumers, and today founder James still holds the role of Chief Technology Officer.
